Broncos Novice Wrestling

The Montville Broncos Novice Wrestling program is open to all children in grades K through 8th grade. The wrestling program is designed to encourage all wrestlers to learn, love and excel in the sport of wrestling. Throughout the season the kids will improve their skills, increase their strength, agility while having a fun experience. Our program focuses on the proper fundamentals and techniques of being a great wrestler. Our Novice Program practices 2 days a week while competing in the King of the Mat Wrestling league. Our Novice wrestlers will compete on Saturday Mornings and conclude with an end of the year KOM League Tournament.

Broncos Varsity Wrestling

Our Montville Broncos Varsity Wrestling team competes in 2 very competitive leagues. Our wrestlers compete in a K-6 Northwest league as well as a K-8 Tri-county League. Our wrestlers train and compete at the highest in state level of league matches. The Varsity wrestling team practices at least 3 times per week while wrestling weekly night matches as well as tournaments and matches on the weekends. Both leagues conclude with end of the year tournaments. Our past league tournaments champions can be seen on our championship boards and page. The goal of our program is to continue to build off of the wrestlers current skills and techniques while being successful on the youth level in order to prepare them for a great wrestling Career at Montville High School.

Directors Corner

The Montville Broncos Wrestling program completed their 22-23 wrestling season with team and individual accomplishments that should be recognized. The program is filled with wrestlers from all 5 elementary schools as well as Lazar Middle School. The team, wrestlers, parents, and coaches should be recognized for all their accomplishments this season.

This season the Montville Broncos wrestled a total of 40 matches and finished with a record of 35-5 which included matches in the Tri-County League, Northwest League, 29th Annual Montville Duals, Flemington Duals, and South Plainfield Super Quad. This team won the Montville Duals for the 2nd Consecutive Year, finished as a team in 3rd place in the Tri-County Team Playoff Duals, and finished in 3rd place in the End of the Year individual Northwest Tournament. “This team was an extremely fun group to coach and the families were a close group that was dedicated to the success of the Broncos Wrestlers” according to Head Coach Billy Templeton.

Individually the Bronco Wrestlers accomplished so much this season.

3 Individual Northwest Champions- Justin Orellana, Vincent Kapral, and Lucas Jones.

3 Tri-County Champions—Justin Orellana, Tristan Meytrott, and Vincent Kapral.

19 State Qualifiers, 10 State Medalists, 6 State Finalists, and 2 State Champions.

State Medalists include: Flynn Longo 8th, Nick Drake 8th, Lucas Jones 6th, and Arianna Sottile 5th.

State Finalist finishing as NJ State Runner ups: Rosie Baldanza, Hudson Meytrott, Vincent Kapral, and Jake Baginski.

State Champions for the 2022-2023: Justin Orellana as he won his first State Championship while Sophia Massefski became a 2X NJ State Champion.

Every year the Broncos award a wrestler with the Very Prestigious Sam Cali MVP award which is designated to honor our former Bronco wrestler and family. This award goes to the wrestler who demonstrates the high level of dedication and commitment to the Montville Program throughout the Tri-County League. Sam Cali was himself a 5-Time Tri-County Champion which is the most in program History.

This years Sam Cali winners are Tristan Meytrott and Sophia Massefski
